Associate of Arts Degree

The magnitude and changing complexity of criminal activities dictate the need for criminal justice personnel who have had a broad-based educational experience. The program as presented includes General Education courses from the college curriculum, specialized Criminal Justice core courses, essential interdisciplinary offerings, and suggested Criminal Justice requirements.

The Associate of Applied Science Program is designed to meet the needs of pre-service and in-service criminal justice personnel as a terminal degree. Alternately, the Associate of Arts Program fulfills the initial two-year curriculum for many four-year Criminal Justice programs.

Individuals desiring a career in corrections work may benefit from this curriculum by selecting certain recommended courses in corrections. Those students who plan a career in corrections counseling or administration should also plan to take graduate study.

Associate of Applied Science

The magnitude and changing complexity of criminal activities dictate the need for criminal justice personnel with a broad-based educational experience. The Associate of Applied Science Program is designed to meet the needs of pre-service and in-service criminal justice personnel as a terminal degree. Alternately, the Associate of Arts Program fulfills the initial two-year curriculum for many four-year criminal justice programs. 

Students must take 39 credits of Criminal Justice and Homeland Security courses.

The Criminal Justice Certificate I, Corrections Option, is designed to meet the needs of the student interested in working in corrections. The magnitude and changing complexity of the criminal justice system, criminal activities, and corrections systems in society dictate the need for criminal justice personnel that think critically and are empowered to make ethical decisions when responding to the unique needs of our corrections population. The program includes General Education courses from the college curriculum and Criminal Justice courses focused on preparing the student to pursue entry-level or advance to supervisory positions in today’s complex corrections environment.

The Criminal Justice Certificate I, Corrections, is tailored to help advance careers in the criminal justice field.

The program includes General Education courses from the college curriculum and Criminal Justice courses focused on preparing the student for a career as a school resource officer.

The Criminal Justice Certificate I, School Resource Officer Option, is tailored to help advance careers in the criminal justice system with a credential in a criminal justice field of study.

The program includes General Education courses from the college curriculum and Criminal Justice courses focused on preparing the student to pursue entry-level positions in today's complex criminal justice environment.
